PNG to AVIF, in your browser
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, which makes it great for graphics — but for photographs and detailed images it produces very large files. AVIF keeps the transparency while compressing far better, often to a fraction of the PNG’s size. For web graphics and images that need transparency, it’s the most efficient modern choice. Mynify converts on your device, with nothing uploaded.
Transparency, kept
Unlike JPG, AVIF supports an alpha channel, so your transparent PNGs stay transparent after conversion — ideal for logos, cutouts and UI assets that need to sit on any background.
The trade-off
AVIF is newer than WebP; every current browser shows it, but some older software and email clients don’t. Use it for web-facing assets; keep PNG for legacy destinations.
Tip
For a graphic that must work in older tools too, WebP is a slightly safer modern choice than AVIF.
