Read the text out of an image — privately
Screenshots, photos of documents, scans, signs, receipts — they’re full of text you can’t select or copy. OCR (optical character recognition) reads that text back into editable form. Mynify does it with an AI model that runs entirely in your browser, so your image is never uploaded. Most OCR sites send your picture to their servers; here, only the recognition engine downloads — the image stays with you.
How it works
- Drop an image containing text (JPG, PNG or WebP).
- Mynify loads the OCR engine once (~15MB, cached afterwards), then reads the text on your device.
- Copy the result or download it as a
.txt.
Get the best results
- Clear and straight. Well-lit, in-focus images with horizontal, reasonably large text read best.
- Printed, not handwritten. OCR excels at typed and printed text; handwriting is unreliable.
- Crop to the text if the image is busy, and compress huge photos first to speed things up.
Working from a PDF instead? Extract its text directly. Want to count what you extracted? Paste it into the word counter.
